Diaghilev. The beginning : Kosolapov, Kruglov, Markina

The Diaghilev. The Beginning exhibition is another of the Russian Museum's tributes to the memory of one of the "superstars" of the receding 20th century, Sergei Pavlovich Diaghilev.' In 2009, on the hundredth anniversary of the beginning of the triumphant Saisons Russes in Paris, St Petersburg pays honor to one of her sons, one who during his lifetime failed to receive due support for a single one of his undertakings. During his early "Russian" period he had to overcome many obstacles to realize his projects, inasmuch as even such forward-thinking contemporaries as Vladimir Stasov and Nikolai Mikhailovsky failed to properly and objectively appreciate the essence of the Diaghilev phenomenon and the innovations in Russian national art connected with it.
